I’ve been wanting a new bag, to replace my ReLoad as my everyday bag. The ReLoad is a phenomenal bag, but since I’m carrying it around more than riding with it, it has become impractical. So my aim was to get a backpack so I could easily walk around wearing it, that could fit my laptop, but I could also wear while riding. Another big factor is waterproofing. My ReLoad had lots of holes for water to creep in, and I wanted the new bag to be totally waterproof. Most messenger style backpacks I’ve seen have been too large and bulky for standard everyday use of only needing to carry a few things.
I found Chrome backpacks to look nice and seem functional enough. Their Ivan series are nice, but too large and bulky for the purpose of this lightweight, carrying only a few things bag I’m looking for. Then I came across the Soyuz. On the pricey side, but has EVERYTHING I am looking for. Its a backpack, made for riding but comfortable and manageable to walk around in, not too large, fits my 17” mac, roll top waterproof, and stylish as hell. Now this seems like the perfect bag. Only thing is that I NEED to try on a bag like this before I can pull the trigger on a $200 bag.
I decided I wanted a new bag and discovered the Soyuz a year ago. Since then I’ve been searching for it in all bike shops I’ve been in. Then recently, I found it. It was hidden behind some other bags at a shop in Soho. I tried it on, it felt like a dream and I bought it. I wasn’t sure if my laptop would fit so I left the tags on until I got home and found out that the laptop does fit. Tags off. I’ve been wearing the bag for about 2 weeks now and I love it.
Coming soon will be my full bag review…
